Pattaya, the 6th of October 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 6:00pm, Captain Chaliew Boonhum (Pattaya Police Investigator) was notified of an accident involving a jet ski in Pattaya Bay adjacent the Central Festival Shopping Center. A team of officers along with rescue services were dispatched to the incident.
Arriving at the scene officers were informed that the injured man, now known to be Mr. Mohsen Fakhari [35], an Iranian national, had already been transported to the Pattaya Memorial Hospital in a critical condition along with his uninjured brother.
Investigating with local beach bed operator’s police interviewed Mrs. Somporn (last name unknown) who stated that both Mr. Fakhari and his brother had been relaxing along the Pattaya Beach since 4:00pm. She explained the Mr. Fakhari had gone for a swim in the sea at approximately 5:30pm, leaving his brother sitting at one of her beach beds.
According to a police statement, Mr. Fakhari had been swimming in the sea just off the Pattaya Beach when a jet ski (rental number ‘2’) came at speed from North Pattaya heading towards the Bali Hai Pier. Reportedly, the jet ski collided with Mr. Fakhari, knocking him unconscious, before continuing towards the pier without rendering assistance.

Mr. Fakhari was assisted from the water by his distraught brother before being transported to the Pattaya Memorial Hospital via ambulance. It has been reported that Mr. Fakhari died of his injuries before arriving at the hospital.
At the hospital officers observed little sign of injury on the deceased body of Mr. Fakhari, speculating that he had died of a severe impact to his head while swimming in the water.
Investigations into the identity and whereabouts of the involved jet ski operator are now underway, with the Iranian Embassy to be notified of the death in due process.

holiday and escape the boring and sometimes even miserable life in Tehran for a while. But now his dead body is to be sent back home.I just hope that the victim, Mr. Mohsen Fakhari hasn't been swimming in the wrong place.
I spent a 10-day SOLO holiday in Pattaya a month prior to this unfortunate accident and I didn't
see any robbery, assault, shooting, murder, etc., nothing but safety, warm and welcoming locals and lovely places and an unforgettable holiday (maybe I was lucky!). I was truly shocked when I became aware of this fatal incident.
Pattaya police must investigate this case and bring the offender to the justice.
Foreign tourist are charged with heavy fines if they damage a jet ski (and ironically if they don;t damage the jet ski AT ALL they still have to pay such insane fines!!!). Now that a human being has been actually KILLED by a jet ski, let's see what they do to the killer.
If the local Justice Administration doesn't issue an "impartial" verdict, this issue would definitely overshadow reputation of Thailand's tourism industry; an industry which Thai government and people rely on.
they will NEVER prosecute the offender... NOTHING is going to happen... falang rents a jet ski, small accident, it becomes extortion at the price of about 15 to 30,000 baht.. jet ski operator strikes and kills a swimmer, we will hear ZERO about this later...
we falang need to wake up... perhaps a day of protest... we all leave the country for 2 or 3 days until some kind of change takes place... why does this country continue to disrespect an industry that puts food into the mouths of millions of thais... truly sad
You are damned right...
jet ski homicide
fatal motorbike accidents
drugs

murder

AND IF NONE OF THE ABOVE KILL YOU
GOOD OLD HIV WILL.
with Dr.K pattaya's days as a holiday resort are numbered because
of there contempt for falang.
They only couse misery.
No Justice at all. Thailands days are numbered even with the Iranians, Chinese and others as irresponsible bad news like this travels fast.
They actually have several large buoyed off swimming zones in Pattaya Bay now, so use them.
Jet sky operators was probably on a fast bus to Issan last night, doubt anyone will be arrested.
Rental operators don't care because they only want the money.
Hope the operator gets arrested soon but probably not.
When are the authorites going to wake up to the fact that idiots on jet ski's are a real danger?
Sure it is more likely to be a tourist but I just wonder why this essential fact is not addressed.
There's so much garbage floating in the water out there, that a swimmer would be impossible to spot at speed for any boat.
