An Iranian man has been arrested on Monday at Thailand’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport with over 2.5kg of crystal methamphetamine (Ya-Ice), according to customs officers.

Bangkok, the 4th of October 2010: Travelling from the United Arab Emirates city of Dubai, the man had attempted to pass through customs with 2.65kg of the illegal narcotic known as Ya-Ice concealed in his luggage.

Thai Customs officers arrested the man, Mr. Gholamhassan Bakhshandehpalangsaraei [41], after he was noticed acting suspicious while transiting through Thailand’s major international airport.

Undergoing random baggage inspections, customs found the illegal narcotics crudely concealed in plastic bags wrapped in cardboard at the base of his luggage. The drugs are estimated to be worth approximately Bt9 million.

Mr Bakhshandehpalangsaraei will now be charged with smuggling of a class-1 restricted narcotics, and possession with intent to sell a class-1 restricted narcotic. He has since been transferred to the Thai Narcotics Suppression Bureau for further investigations.

Reportedly, Thai Customs had been following an anonymous tip-off that a substantial quantity of narcotics was to be trafficked into the country on Monday, causing officials to be on ‘high-alert’.

Thai Customs have seized a reported Bt450 million (130kg) in Ya-Ice at the Suvarnabhumi Airport since October of 2009. Equating to almost 70 separate case of which just over 50 have involved Iranian nationals or flights from the capital of Tehran.

Thailand is trying to attract more Iranian, Indian and Chinese tourists. Why not make it legal for them to import drugs into Thailand? If the Iranians are busy doing drug deals maybe they will forget to support world terrorism.

Gholamhassan Bakhshandehpalangsaraei

He should also be charged with pre-meditated excessive last-namedness in the first degree. I wasted four minutes of my life trying to figure out how to say it.

That's why he got caught. The customs guy kept getting stuck at, "Bak, bak, bak, bak." and Mr. WTF kept coming back for another inspection.
