Thailand’s Criminal Court on Thursday ordered the extradition of a British national detained in Thai prison who is wanted in the United Kingdom on murder, fraud and theft charges, according to Thai media reports.

Thailand, the 1st of October 2010: The extradition order, sort by the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) on behalf of British authorities, was granted by a Thai Criminal Court on Thursday, who ordered Brit, Stuart Scott Crawford [44], be extradited within 90-days.

Crawford is wanted in the UK over accusations that he violently beat his landlord, Michael Ryan [67], to death in 2008 before withdrawing approximately £6,500 from Mr Ryan’s bank account and fleeing to Thailand.

The unemployed Mr. Crawford had allegedly shared Mr. Ryan’s Sutton flat after the pair had met and become friends while on holiday in Thailand merely seven weeks prior to the September 2008 murder.

The accused murdered was apprehended earlier this year in the Thai seaside resort of Pattaya, where he had been residing for the past two years with his Thai wife. Crawford was arrested by Thai Immigration Police serving an international arrest warrant in August 2010.

Crawford and his legal representative will now have 30-days to appeal the Criminal Court decision, failing which he will be extradited to the UK in accordance with Thai judicial proceedings. No statement from Crawford or his legal council has been provided to the media as of Friday.

New Police Immigration Bureau chief Pol Lieutenant General Wuthi Liptapallop revealed Crawford’s arrest to be part of a renewed crackdown on foreign criminals and fugitives using the Kingdom as a hiding spot.
