Pattaya, the 1st of October 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 12:30pm on Friday, local authorities and the Pattaya City Fire Department were notified of a raging fire on the top floor of the ‘Top Bakery’ and ‘108 Shop’ (mini-mart) in Soi Chaiyapruk, Jomtien.
Arriving at the scene, opposite the Pattaya Daily News Offices, fire crews worked quickly to extinguish the blaze, which was threatening to spread to adjacent buildings. The fire had ignited in a top floor room of the ‘Top Bakery,’ the last in a line of four storey shop-houses on the northern Jomtien side of Soi Chaiyapruk.
Within minutes of local residents noticing the fire it had already partially destroyed the roof of the popular German bakery, with fire seen lashing the adjacent room and protruding from the road-facing balcony. No injuries have been reported by authorities.

Local police closed a large portion of the Chaiyapruk Road while firemen worked to extinguish the fire, with a substantial gathering of local residents and passing
motorists stopping to catch a glimpse of the incident.
Due to the location of the fire, at the rear of the four-storey building, fire crews initially tackled the blaze using a water cannon from one of four Pattaya City Fire Department trucks attending the scene.
Subsequently battling the blaze from inside, the fire was completely extinguished in just over 30 minutes, testament to the quick response of local emergency crews who attended the scene less than 5-minutes after the blaze was reported.
At present, the fire is suspected to have been started by several incense sticks that had been left burning in the room by its occupants. Investigations will continue at the scene once the building has been declared safe by emergency services.

I have never read such rubbish as you write. You use huge words and then try to pass off as an Indian who has English skills. I don't know who you are or what your nationality is, but you certainly are not what you profess to be. You actually are insulting to the Indians of the world, in my opinion. WE, the reading public, would be a lot better off without your rediculous comments on anything and everything. I will from now on pass over any articles written by you and I encourage others to do the same.
That is all........
some very good friends on this soi and their shocking revolt must be severe in response to fire engine and fireman extending their hose pipes in
direction of fire and much water is quenching the thirst of the flames while inside the daily bread has become a soggy dough with much wailing of
sirens and spectators watching as disaster to properties is avoided by whiskers of hairs breadth like a cat so i am thinking be very careful with
the magic insense sticky wicky and candles or similar hopeless fire will make an engulf of your homestead and cause the misery of financial lossage
with no insurance and fiddlesticks for payout of lost cash
Seems to be some old local media rivalry going on here, perhaps the others are a little though init? Maybe the others are a bit 'hot' that they have no story, haha. Whatever, a fire at a foreign owned business (German) seems relevant enough for my tastes in a local newspaper.
Good on you PDN, but could you try getting the news a little closer to home next time, haha
As far as I know, "nua" means north (as in Pattaya Nua) and your claim that Na Jomtien, noticeably south of Jomtien is actually North Jomtien is even more far-fetched than the journalist's claim that Top Bakery is on the northern side of Soi Chaiyapruk.
MMOU: Have you noticed the name of this publication? A fire across the road from its offices within its particular zone of interest (which includes Jomtien and Na Jomtien) is certainly legitimate news and would certainly be most heavily lambasted were it not to be reported.
It is not of international import perhaps but then neither is 99% of what goes on around us.
Don't knock up-to-date local news - this is one of the few sources!
Our international readers must be so impressed lol i drove past there tonight everything looks fine. Why even report it.Not interesting.
Go home before I fall into a 2000 year sleep. Please.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, too lete
Note writer: your office is on the northern side of Chayaphruk, the bakery is on the southern side - Whoops!
