A Norwegian man has been robbed of nearly Bt90,000 in cash and possessions while walking along Pattaya Beach on Wednesday. The offenders are reported to be two Thai youths, who held the victim at taser-point before committing the robbery.

Pattaya, the 29th of September 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 11:00pm on Wednesday, Lieutenant Colonel Natthawat Srithongphet (Pattaya Police Investigator) was notified of a robbery involving a foreign man along Pattaya Beach. A team of officers was dispatched to the incident to investigate.

At the scene, along Pattaya Beach opposite Soi Pattayaland 1 (Soi 13/1), officers were confronted by a Norwegian man, Mr. Preben Ehefsen [37]. Mr. Ehefsen, in a state of shock, explained that two Thai teenagers who had threatened him with a high-voltage taser and then robbed him of all his possessions and cash.

In a statement to police, Mr. Ehefsen revealed that he had gone for a drink along nearby Walking Street when he had decided to take a leisurely walk along the beach. He explained that two teenagers (undetermined age) had approached him and held a high-voltage taser to his wrist, threatening him to hand over all his valuables and money or face electrocution. The two teens then fled the scene in the direction of Soi Pattayaland 1.

The two teenagers, suspected to be part of a problematic youth gang operating in the area, allegedly stole a Bt46,000 gold necklace, a Breitling watch valued at Bt26,000, a Sony digital camera valued at Bt15,000 and approximately Bt1,500 in cash from Mr. Ehefsen.

Officers investigating the incident attempted to gain valuable information from nearby witnesses, street vendors and pedestrians, however, no viable leads were attained. Police speculate the offenders possible connection to a dominant youth gang in the area have left many locals reluctant to provide information to police.

Mr. Ehefsen was subsequently taken to the Pattaya Police Station for further questioning, while officers attempt to ascertain the identity and whereabouts of the potentially violent offenders.

Suggest the police, instead of sitting on their arses in the police station at Soi 9 actually get off their arses and do some regular patrols around Pattaya. ON FOOT. Oh no! Now that sounds like real policing and far too much like hard work. You are not report takers, you are police that are supposed to protect the public, not just take their money at every given opportunity. Maybe some serious study tours overseas might educate then all on what it takes to be a REAL policeman.

Uh, high voltage, no. These are toys that tickle and must make direct contact with the skin. Tasers have electrodes that can shoot up to 10 meters, shock, then retract automatically.

Singh's post was more shocking than these cheap toys.

Either the guy is a puss and needs to study some Muay Thai for next time, or just one more insurance scam.

What a tart! two youths robbed him of all that with a stun gun, they dont even hurt, he should have just slapped them around the head and frog marched them to the nearest police station. Those stun guns you can buy on beach rd arent worth a carrot, you get a bigger jolt sticking your tongue on a 9V battery.
