Disaster Avoided as Gas Cylinders Loosed on Sukhumvit

A potentially disastrous situation was narrowly avoided on Tuesday when a truck carrying over 40 large gas cylinders crashed on Sukhumvit Road near Soi Siam Country Club. Over half the cylinders were released onto the major road, but were contained by fast acting emergency crews.

Pattaya, the 28^th of September 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 11:00am on Tuesday, Lieutenant Colonel Natthawat Srithongphet (Pattaya Police Investigator) was notified of an accident involving a fully loaded gas cylinder transport vehicle. A team of officers along with the Pattaya Relief and Fire Departments were dispatched to the incident.

At the scene, near Soi Siam Country Club in Central Pattaya, officers observed a blue/white Isuzu truck (Gas Jarernsak Ltd) crashed into the central traffic island along Sukhumvit Road. Approximately 38 large gas cylinders contained on the rear of the truck had been scattered onto the road.

Emergency services immediately worked to gather the loose cylinders before any possible disaster could occur. The Pattaya Fire Department was on hand to douse the bottles with water to keep the temperature down.

Under interrogation, Mr. Phaibun Chaikhew [26], the driver of the involved truck, stated that he had been delivering the gas bottles to a hotel in Pattaya when the rear tyre deflated causing him to lose control of the vehicle, crashing into the traffic island. Officers found the tyres on the vehicle to be in a poor condition. The deflated tyre was reportedly worn at the point of puncture.

Emergency crews are now believed to have removed the truck from the scene, while officers have temporarily detained Mr. Chaikhew for further interrogation over the incident.

Why to Thai cops always "detain" or interrogate the wrong people?

The driver makes enough money in one day to buy three bowls of soup and a Chang beer (small). The owner of the gas company is the guy they should detain... but he's home watching tv and chewing on chicken feet. (Did anyone else notice that chicken feet are twice the price of chicken breasts? WTF?)

Singh: did you now the average novel has 80,000 words? I've only been a PDN reader for two weeks and I think you're already there. Difference is, the novels I buy and read actually are divided into separate sentences, have plots that make sense, and are entertaining.

Does anyone know where i can locate that a"s of a driver, only i was travelling behind when this incident occurred and will be seeking damages from him for soiled underwear and pants,a badly stained car seat and loss of face and embarrassment when i had to walk from my car to my home and was laughed at by some local kids who kept chanting sh"t a"s
