Bomb Explodes Near Nang Lerng Race Track in Bangkok

Share
In the third such incident in two days, an explosive device has been detonated near the Nang Lerng racetrack in central Bangkok, according to Thai media reports.

Thailand, the 25th of September 2010: No injuries and minimal damage has been reported at the scene of the latest explosion, under a ‘flyover’ near the Nang Lerng horse racing track, with authorities examining CCTV surveillance footage of the incident at present.

Reports speculate that the device was detonated manually and consisted of a concoction of urea fertilizer and diesel, contained within an aluminium fuel container. The device was detonated at approximately 00:30am on Sunday.

Sunday’s incident follows the bombing along the Rama III road in Yannawa district on Friday, which left three people injured and a second unrelated explosion in Talingchan district, which destroyed one parked vehicle belonging to a university student.

Prompted by the explosions, Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban once again ordered authorities to increase security in the capital, setting up further checkpoints to manage the situation in an attempt to deter further acts of violence.

Attempting to mitigate Friday’s incidents, Mr. Thaugsuban insinuated that the explosions had more than likely been the result of personal conflicts rather than political. However, further precautionary measures by metropolitan police will be enacted to help monitor the situation.

Reports suggesting that additional police were now needed in the Thai capital have been allayed by the Deputy Prime Minister, who insisted that police numbers are sufficient to deal with the situation with soldiers from the First Army Regiment were on standby to assist.

Prompted by more of these 'convenient' bombs, he will also delay or postpone elections, giving himself and his cronies more snouts-in-the-trough time.
This guy is a liar and a terrorist.
