United Kingdom, the 24th of September 2010: The premier league footballer “strenuously denies any wrongdoing” according to club chairman Niall Quinn, who gave the defender his full backing.
The 29-year-old former Ipswich Town, Newcastle United and Wigan rearguard was questioned at a Newcastle Police Station after he and brother Tesfaye [30] were arrested at the Vermont Hotel.
A spokesman for the Northumbria Police stated, “both men have made bail pending further inquires,” with both expected to answer bail on the 2nd of December.
In an official club statement, Quinn added, “ This has been a very difficult day for everyone at the football club, no one more so than Titus, who categorically refutes the allegations that have been made against him. I as chairman, and the club as a whole, totally support
Titus in his efforts and we all hope for a swift conclusion to this matter.”
Bramble and a second man, now known to be his older brother, were arrested early on Wednesday morning after an anonymous woman in her 20’s called Northumbria police to report a rape.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “Police received a report of a rape of a woman at a city centre hotel in Newcastle in the early hours. Two men, aged 29 and 30, have been arrested on suspicion of rape.”
Sunderland has yet to officially make a statement regarding the situation while a hotel spokesman also refused to comment to the British press regarding the incident.

Bramble only joined Sunderland this summer from Wigan Athletic. He is a former England U21 international who has also played for Ipswich and Newcastle.
