Pattaya’s Malibu Bar & Restaurant

Many of us living here in Thailand have more than likely seen the many cabaret shows on offer presented by lady boys and transvestites, but for those who have yet to experience one of these flamboyant shows, then a trip to the Malibu is in order.

Situated on the corner of Soi Post Office, (Soi 13) and Second Road, the Malibu is an open bar and restaurant with reasonable food, complete with cabaret. The show is free and hilarious with a mixture of lady boys and real girls and is visible from the main road.

The songs are all mimed and not all the cast know the words they just open and close their mouths like guppies. The performers make their entrance dressed in plumes of feathers and glittery attire happily pouting and preening themselves while continuing through the evening, miming to the 70’s classics. Flashing broad smiles and light flirting with the customers, the performers embark on their routine with hilarious mimicking of famous stars such as Tina Turner.

Malibu’s Tina Turner had the star off to perfection with the over exaggeration of the quivering and wobbly jaw when hanging on to a long note. Her strut around the stage is more like Tina Turner than Tina herself. It is a laugh a minute and a must see for those who have yet to indulge in some light entertainment.

The performance ends with a special Pattaya song and an audience participation limbo dance. For those who prefer sports to cabaret, there is a separate bar next door where a variety of sports can be watched on screen. Drinks are no more expensive than any other bar and there is no cover charge. First in get the best seats.
