You'd be right, Willem, except that Thai calculators are only used for subtracting so they can figure your change, say like you pay 90 baht for something and you give them 100 baht note.
Also, Samui isn't in the top ten best airports as rated by the experienced pilot in this story: http://www.bangkokpost.com/breakingnews/151089/bangkok-airways-plane-crashes-on-samui

More than six million passengers a year and more than fifteen thousand flights per year.
That gives an average of four hundred passengers per flight with a load factor of one hundred percent!
What aircraft in the world can do this?
Exactly, only the Airbus A340, Airbus A380 or Boeing 747.
And this machines need at least a runway for 3550-4000 + meter, while that of Koh Samui International Airport is only 2060 meters.
Most flights are conducted, about 21 per day, by Bangkok Air (the owner of the airport) and Thai Airways.
The biggest aircraft in the fleet of Bangkok Air, the Airbus A320-200 (max. Pass. 180 in a class), then it has to more than twenty-five thousand flights per year!
Congratulations for media@bangkokair.com for this beautiful commercial
