A Thai news crew from the National Broadcasting Service (NBS) were involved in a helicopter accident near Bangkok on Saturday. The chopper went down into the Chao Phraya River after reportedly getting tangled in overhead wires, all four passengers and crew escaped unharmed.

Thailand, the 12^th of September 2010: The NBS crew, a cameraman and female reporter, along with a pilot and co-pilot of the chartered helicopter flight were surveying a region of the Chao Phraya north of the capital in order to get footage for a documentary on flooding in the region at the time of the accident.

Reportedly, while the helicopter was hovering above a Buddhist Temple on Koh Kret, a small island in Nonthaburi, the tail of the craft become entangled in overhead wires. The helicopter allegedly lost control before the pilot was able to land heavily on a makeshift wooden pier. The four involved managed to escape the helicopter and where rescued from the water by local residents before the chopper had fully sunk.

No one involved in the incident was harmed according to media reports from the scene, with salvage divers now assessing the situation of the sunken helicopter.

In other news, a cargo train bound for the southern Thai city of Hat Yai has derailed in Phatthalung on Saturday. The incident occurred shortly before noon, merely 100-meters from the Khao Chaison station.

Initial reports on the incident suggest that the accident occurred as a result of loose rail connections at the scene, which caused three cars of the cargo train to derail. No casualties were reported, but the incident did disrupt train services to the Deep South until the accident was cleared sometime late on Saturday.
