Pattaya, the 9th of September 2010 [PDN]: Huay Yai police investigating the attempted murder of Mr. Kittipich Anukarnyothin [42] on New Years Day 2010, successfully apprehended the two offenders on Wednesday after an anonymous tip-off uncovered their whereabouts in Chantaburi province.

The two offenders, Miss Doungjai or Au Petthai [24] and Mr. Wanlop or Neung Moung-Inn [25], had colluded to deceive Mr. Anukarnyothin, a Thai property developer,
into drinking with them at the “Yadong Inter Pub” in Huay Yai before robbing him of his watch, two mobile phones and his Audi sports car. The pair also forced him to withdraw approximately Bt15,000 in cash from his ATM, which they subsequently stole.
Mr. Anukarnyothin, also a relative of General Jumphol Manmai (Deputy Police Commissioner-General), had met up with Miss Doungjai, who he had known for several months, in order to enjoy her company for the night. He was introduced to Mr. Wanlop at the aforementioned establishment under the impression that he was the brother of Miss Doungjai, however it is now known that the pair are husband and wife.
Following the attempted murder the pair fled the area and had remained hidden for the last eight months. Huay Yai Police was able to apprehend them in Chantaburi province on Wednesday after and anonymous tip-off gave up their whereabouts. The pair had been in the process of selling Mr. Anukarnyothin’s Audi to a Cambodian buyer at the time of their arrest.

Both Mr. Wanlop and Miss Doungjai have now been remanded in police custody pending further investigations. A re-enactment of the January 1st attempted murder and the events prior was conducted this morning.
