Bogotá, the 7th of September 2010: Standing at 70.21 centimetres in stature, Nino [24] shot to fame this week after being officially announced as the world’s shortest man by the Guinness Book of Records.
Living at home with his mother in Bogotá, Colombia, Nino has enjoyed a whirlwind of media hype since the announcement, including the arrangement of a meeting with President Juan Manuel Santos and the presidential palace this Thursday.
Nino sleeps in a 90-cm-long bed, bathes in a tiny specially made shower and is particularly soft spoken. In addition, he described that he likes average-sized women, like his current girlfriend Fanny, who is 1.6m tall.
“I like brunettes, a little curvy,” said the fleeting title-holder, who also likes to dance, has worked as a spokesmodel for shoe companies and acts in his own TV series.
The diminutive Nino’s fifteen minutes of fame seems set to be short-lived however, with the announcement of Nepalese teen Khagendra Thapa Magar’s eighteenth birthday next month. Magar stands an astounding 14cm shorter than Nino at 56 centimetres and will eclipse him in the stature rankings upon reaching recognised adulthood.

Despite his expected demise at the top of the ‘short list’ Nino’s ambitions are anything but humble, he dreams of travelling to Japan, China, the United States, India and Spain. Nino also has ambitions of making it big as an international actor.
