Thai Championship Confirmed as Asian Tour Finale

The Black Mountain Masters has been confirmed as the Asian Tours season finale when it returns to Hua Hin on December 16-19. A field of over 140 players is scheduled for the event with a prize money set to increase to US$600,000

Thailand, the 1^st of September 2010: Announcing the addition of the tournament into the 2010 schedule, Black Mountain Golf Course General Manager Harald Elisson stated, “We are honoured and excited to have a prestigious position as the season finale event.”

Confirming his defence of the title Swede Johan Edfors announced his return to the popular central-southern Thai course stating, “I am excited to be going back.” Edfors, a regular on the Asian circuit, is also a past winner of the TCL Classic in China.

In total this years field is expected to comprise 144 players, joining Edfors will be Brit Simon Khan, the reigning BMW PGA Championship champion and two-time European Tour winner Mikko Ilonen from Finland.

Local challengers in the form of popular world number 67 golfer Thongchai Jaidee and Prayad Marksaeng, last years runner-up, will head the field which also comprises several notable past winners on the Asian Tour.

The announcement of Black Mountain into this year’s calendar makes it the fourth Thai-based tournament to be staged in 2010 and the 22^nd event held in Thailand since 2004. The other three being, the Asian Tour International, the Queen’s Cup and the King’s Cup.

Executive Chairman of the Asian Tour Kyi Hla Han said the tournament marked the player’s last chance to earn a playing card for 2011 and vie for the prestigious Order of Merit title.
