Thailand, the 1st of September 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 1:00am on Wednesday, Major Thanitsak Theerasawad (Rayong Police Superintendent) along with Nunthawut Suwanla-ong (Pattaya Police Superintendent) and a team of officers, unveiled their progress in the Bank of Ayudhya ATM robbery investigations.

The Bank of Ayudhya ATM, stolen from the Krachade Bank branch in Rayong on the 27th of August, was found damaged, abandoned and devoid of all cash (approx. Bt4.3 million) at a Sattahip farm on the 29th of August. The ATM had been dumped at the location, just off route 331 Sattahip-Korat, on the 28th of August before being discovered and reported by the farm owner on the following day.
Officers, having identified the vehicles used by the suspects from various CCTV surveillance tapes, tracked the registration to a hire-car firm along the Sukhumvit Road between Sattahip and Pattaya. Investigating with the business, the ‘TCC Car Center,’ police promptly confiscated the two vehicles before interrogating the owner of the company over their recent use.
Under questioning, Mr. Akkhaphol Jansereekun [32], the business owner, explained that the two pickups in question had been hired out by three Serbian nationals (identified off official documents presented at the time of hiring) on two separate occasions, the 19th-20th and 25th-27th of August. On the second occasion, the suspects returned the pickup in the morning of the 28th of August, one day late. Mr. Jansereekun professed that the three men had not explained what they intended to use the vehicles for and that he consequently had no knowledge of their involvement in the ATM robbery. The two vehicles were a silver Toyota Hilux D4D and a blue Isuzu D-Max (the vehicle used in the robbery).

Obtaining the mobile phone numbers of the three suspects from hire-car documentation, officers were able to ascertain that two of the signals had been significantly active in the Srakaeo border province recently. Resultant investigations with the Aranyaprathet border crossing revealed that two of the suspects had crossed the border into Cambodia on the 28th of August, their current location unknown.
The third suspect has been traced to an unknown location in Bangkok and is being monitored by metropolitan police. Officers are now engaging with Cambodian authorities over the two fugitive suspects, while an investigation into the apprehension of the third man is reportedly ongoing.
