Pattaya, the 23^rd of August 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 12:30pm on Monday, Major Supparuek Uphrai (Pattaya Police Investigator) along with a team of officers and the Sawang Boriboon Foundation were dispatched to an incident at the Niran Condominium in Soi Arunothai, Central Pattaya. Officers had been called to the residence after a foreign man had reportedly begun damaging his room and threatening suicide in an intoxicated rage.

Arriving at the scene, officer observed the offender, now known to be Mr. Dan Denmark [50] from Sweden, inside his room in a severely intoxicated state. Mr. Denmark had reportedly locked the external security door to the room, before trashing the interior and damaging the wooden internal door.

Despite police attempts to coerce Mr. Denmark, an amputee, into coming out of the room he persisted to abuse officers, brandishing a meat cleaver which he threatened to use to cut his wrists. Officers proceeded to storm the room when the situation progressed, Mr. Denmark lacerating his arm with the cleaver several times while continuing to swig on a bottle of whiskey. Bleeding profusely, officers tried to offer Mr. Denmark a beer laced with sleeping tablets in an attempt to defuse the situation, but were ultimately unsuccessful.

After almost two hours of negotiation, police managed to ascertain that Mr. Denmark had been upset over a local working girl, who was subsequently found and asked to aid in calming him down. Officers finally managed to restrain him as he began to suffer from the effects of losing a substantial amount of blood. Despite his weakened state, Mr. Denmark continued to resist aid as rescue personnel transported him to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital.

In conclusion, Maj. Uphrai revealed to reporters that Mr. Denmark, an expat in Pattaya, had become enraged over his visiting sons dalliance with the aforementioned working girl he himself had been seeing for several days. Reportedly, his son and the young woman had not come to see him for three days, forcing him to drink and become violently enraged over the situation.

At present, Mr. Denmark is receiving treatment at the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital, with police eager to question him over the incident upon his release.
