Authorities have apprehended the four suspects wanted in relation to an attempted robbery on a Pattaya Bangkok Bank ATM on Thursday. The offenders were arrested as they tried to flee Thailand at Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

Bangkok, the 19^th of August 2010: Following an extensive investigation into an attempted Bangkok Bank ATM robbery along Beach Road on Tuesday, police managed to track the offenders to their residence in Bangkok, before later swooping to arrest them at the airport.

At approximately 2:30pm on Thursday, Lieutenant General Aswin Kwan-Meung (National Assistant Police Commissioner) and a team of officers, activated an arrest warrant on four Peruvian nationals wanted in relation to the attempted ATM robbery.

Lead investigators, using CCTV surveillance footage, witness statements and the number plate of the vehicle (silver Toyota Vios), tracked the four offenders to the “Penpan” apartment block in Bangkipi, Bangkok.

In the resultant search of the offender’s apartment police found evidence, including, the silver Toyota Vios, a pair of grey groves (identical to those found at the scene) and a number of metal implements believed to be used in the attempted robbery.

Later on Friday evening, approximately 8:00pm, the four Peruvian nationals, Mr. Elmer Eduardo Nunez Correa [37], Mr. Baldomero Freddy Suarez Nunez [57], Mr. Cesar Torres Tapia [28] and Mr. Felix Antonio Jimmenez Suarez [32], were attempting to leave the country through Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok.

Given the evidence, Immigration Police detained the four men who have since been transferred, for further interrogations, in to the custody of the Pattaya Police. Colonel Nunthawut Suwanla-ong will now head proceedings as the commanding police chief on the case.

Editor’s Note: Initially the suspects were thought to be of middle-eastern decent, however, further investigation revealed they are part of an apparent South American crime wave flooding into Thailand.
