A collection of Thai Tourism police have become an internet sensation after a video of them dancing to the Korean pop song “Sorry Sorry” appeared on Youtube recently. The popular act has received nearly 400,000 hits in less than one week.

Thailand, the 18^th of August 2010: Having initially created the video for entrance into the “Once in a lifetime Evening Talent Show” in Rayong, the video appeared on popular video broadcasting website Youtube and became an overnight sensation.

After only a few days, the video had attained over 100,000 hits while it has currently attained close to 400,000 as the international media begin to jump on the dancing police bandwagon.

Consisting of a collection of officers from the Tourism Police Region 4 subdivision in Chiang Mai, the group has become a mega-hit on Youtube with their choreographed dance routine to the Korean boy band “Super Junior’s” pop song “Sorry Sorry.” Splashed with scenes of them performing in their normal duties the video has prompted rave reviews and calls for an encore by the excited Thai public.

Lieutenant Colonel Thanakorn Dothanakan, deputy chief of the Region 4 subdivision, said that the video had been received remarkably well by the public, referencing the views on Youtube and numerous calls of congratulations and support received via the 1155 service line. At present over 1,200 people have posted comments under the main video, which has also spawned several remix and alternative versions.

Thanking the media and people for their support, Lt. Col. Thanakorn said Maj-General Adis Ngamjitsuksri, commander of the Tourist Police Division, had been the overriding organiser of the talent contest, which included various music and dance performances from several regions of the Thai Tourist Police.

Meanwhile, despite being less popular, other acts at the Rayong, “Once in a Lifetime Evening Talent Show” included an amateur music video of the World Cup song “Waka Waka” by the south’s 5th subdivision and a dance act by the northeast’s 3^rd subdivision done to the popular Thai song “Luk Thevada” (Angel’s Son).
