Suspected Southern Insurgents held in Bt42 Million Ya-Ba Bust

Three suspected southern insurgents potentially operating under the command of wanted drug kingpin Utsaman Salamaeng, have been arrested in possession of over Bt42 million in Ya-Ba (methamphetamine pills) on Thursday.

Nakhon Ratchasima, the 12^th of August 2010: The three offenders were arrested in Thailand’s northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima. While passing through a police checkpoint, police instigated a search on the vehicle, deemed suspicious.

During resultant investigations a consignment of some 280,000 methamphetamine, (Ya-Ba) pills were discovered hidden inside the vehicles bumpers. The illicit drugs have an estimated street value of approximately Bt42 million.

Under investigation, the three offenders, Mr. Roning Yuso [50], Mr. Somboon Yuso [27] and Mr. Nisit Saie [37], confessed to being drug couriers for a larger organisation in the Deep South. The trio had reportedly conducted three other trips of this nature, for payment of Bt200,000 for each trip.

At present, investigations are still ongoing, however, police speculate that the trio are part of wanted drug lord Utsaman Salamaeng’s operation along the border with Thailand and Malaysia.

Utsaman Salamaeng, believed to be residing in Thailand’s Deep South or across the Malaysian border, is one of Thailand’s largest known drug lords, using profits from the illegal operation to fund southern insurgents in their terror attacks in the region.

Mr. Salamaeng is currently wanted by both Thai and Malay authorities on a string of drug trafficking, terrorism and money laundering charges.

Its just to bad that we can't see a clearer picture of those 3 guys. Are those the drugs in front of them? On the other pic they look wrapped in red...
