Pattaya, the 9th of August 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 3:30am on Monday, Pattaya Police were informed of an assault and robbery along Pattaya’s Beach Road. A team of officers were immediately dispatched to the incident to investigate.

At the scene, between Soi 10 and Soi 13 along Pattaya Beach Road, officers discovered the unconscious body of Mr. Chalathit Tontiwut [29]. Mr. Tontiwut, a famous Thai musician, had been assaulted and robbed by a group of unknown Thai males.
A witness to the incident explained that Mr. Tontiwut had been walking along the Beach Road before being randomly attacked by a group of men. Transported to the Pattaya Memorial Hospital, the victim required 7 stitches to a wound on his face, while he had suffered severe head and neck bruising in the assault. He was later transferred to the Bangkok Hospital Pattaya for further treatment.

Investigation with the victim’s mother, Mrs. Rotsukhon Tontiwut [48] revealed that he had attended a friend’s birthday party at the nearby Central Festival Shopping Center prior to the attack. At the time of the incident, Mr. Tontiwut is thought to have been returning to his Phratamnak Hill residence.
Mrs. Tontiwut revealed that her son had been in possession of approximately Bt20,000 in cash, a new i-Phone and wristwatch valued at over Bt70,000 combined.
At present, Mr. Tontiwut remains in a critical but stable condition in the Bangkok Hosptial Pattaya ICU, while police investigations into the identity and whereabouts of the offenders are ongoing.
