Bangkok, the 3rd of August 2010: Thai customs officers working at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in the Thai capital detained Mr. Hoorizad Bahram [26] and Taheri Hamid [27] on Monday after x-ray scans revealed the presence of a suspicious substance inside their stomachs.
The two men were approached by customs officers having been observed acting suspiciously upon disembarking from their flight from Iran. Resultant examinations revealed that the pair had ingested approximately 84g of the illicit drug, crystal methamphetamine (Ya-Ice).
Meanwhile, on Tuesday customs officers at Suvarnabhumi Airport busted a further Iranian man, Mr. Mohammad Ebdolah [27], in similar circumstances. Acting suspiciously on an inbound flight from the Iranian capital of Tehran, Mr. Ebdolah was found to have ingested and unknown quantity of Ya-Ice.
Also on Tuesday, officers detected an anomaly inside the luggage of another Iranian national, Mr. Behnam Davarpanah [24]. Resultant searches uncovered a concealment of the same narcotic, crystal methamphetamine, hiding in his baggage. The drugs were concealed inside aluminium foil coffee bags.
In total, between the four arrested offenders, customs officers confiscated 1.7kg of crystal methamphetamine before handing it and the culprits over to the Narcotics Suppression Bureau for further investigations.
Reportedly, customs officers working at Thailand’s main international airport have confiscated over 87kg of Ya-Ice in the last 9-months. Approximately 50 Iranian nationals have been implicated in the smuggling of the highly addictive narcotic in that same timeframe.
