Pattaya, the 2nd of August 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 3:30pm, Colonel Natthawut Suwanla-ong (Pattaya Police Superintendent) and a team of police raided a rental in Soi Bongkot, South Pattaya.

The raid was instigated following an anonymous tip-off that the tenant was using the premises to produce and sell illegal pirate CD/DVD’s. The continued abundance of pirate merchandise in Thailand has been branded a key focus of operations for the national authorities in 2010.
During the raid, officers arrested the tenant Mr. Egkaluk Chaichomphu [31] and six other men while confiscating over 3,000 illegal pirate CD/DVD’s, a computer system, printers, label makers and other equipment pertaining to the operation.

Under interrogation, Mr. Chaichomphu confessed to being the manufacturer of the pirate merchandise, stating that he been operating for over one-year. He explained that he would purchase the original copyright material before duplicating it and selling for Bt25 per item.
Officers have since detained Mr. Chaichomphu pending further judicial proceedings, whilst the six other men, customers of the illegal operation, were fined and subsequently released.

I also think Pattaya Police could (should) focuse on more important things. But we all know that the Anti-Piracy lobbies like MPAA have more power than victims of local criminals.
I don't buy pirated movies because the crap that Hollywood produces anymore is so bad it's not worth watching or stealing.
