2¼ cups milk
½ cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
½ tsp ground cinnamon
½ cup raisins or sultanas
8 slices bread
Generously butter one side of the bread. And cut each slice in 4.
Place all ingredients except bread and raisins in slow cooker. Wisk until combined then add raisins.
Arrange bread on top, butter side up. Allow slices to overlap. Push slices under milk mixture, so they soak it up. Sprinkle a little sugar over the top. Cook on low for 8 hours.
Sprinkle nutmeg on top. Serve warm or cold on it’s own, topped with custard, ice cream or fruit. For a more fruity taste, add sliced banana between the slices of bread prior to cooking.
