Pattaya, the 30th of July 2010: At approximately 10:00pm on Friday, Pattaya Police were informed of a stabbing along the Sukhumvit Road in North Pattaya. Officers along with the Sawang Boriboon Foundation were immediately dispatched to the incident.
At the scene, near the highway overpass in North Pattaya, the injured man, Mr. Porn Junweuy [49], was treated by rescue personnel for a stab wound to the stomach. Also at the scene was a female police volunteer who subsequently declined to provide a statement to the media.
While receiving first aid, Mr. Junweuy, a local lottery ticket salesman, explained that he had been approached by a man who he thought was looking to buy lottery tickets. He had allegedly been driving a gold/bronze Toyota with Chon-Buri license plate no. 5742.
Reportedly, the man approached Mr. Junweuy and demanded he hand over his money and the lottery tickets before lashing out, armed with a knife, and stabbing the victim. Before the offender could steal the lottery tickets or any money a female police volunteer riding past the scene bravely stopped to assist, forcing the attacker to flee.

Mr. Junweuy explained that the total value of his lottery tickets and money was approximately Bt30,000 and expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the volunteer officer for her assistance.
Investigations will now continue in an attempt to apprehend the violent offender. Police urge anyone with knowledge of the location or owner of the vehicle in question to come forward and report to the Pattaya Police Station immediately.
