Sriracha, 27th of July, 2010[PDN] At 11.30 am, Police Lieutenant Colonel Sawek Rattanakiet (Sriracha Police Investigator) was notified of an accident that had occurred involving a pickup and a train carrying empty gas bottles at the Hin Pern Rail Way junction, Moo 6, Sriracha, Chon Buri, which resulted in the death of one person and severe injuries to another. Subsequently, the officer along with Sawang Prateep Thammasathan Foundation team went to investigate.

At the scene, about 50 meters from the railway junction, a red Toyota pickup was discovered upside down on the road. It had been badly damaged on the left side. The body of Mrs. Prayad Jarernsaensuai [53] from Sriracha was lying face up by the door of the pickup. The injured man was found nearby, Mr. Bunchuai Sriprapha [52] who was the driver of the pickup was also the landlord of Plernpit Apartment, Moo6, Bangphra, Sriracha. The officer sent him to the Smitiwet Sriracha Hospital for treatment. Approximately 500 meters from the scene was the train, number 4517 containing the empty gas tanks (PTT Company).
During the interrogation with Mr. Anon Raegkhun [46] from Sara Buri, the train driver stated that whilst he was driving the train from BKK in order to go the gas station at Baan Rongpoe, Banglamung, he approached the scene, where he saw a pickup gaining speed in order to cross the track before the barrier came down. He was unable to stop in time which resulted in the collision.

Mr. Phichai Jarernsaensuai [33] the deceased woman’s son stated that before the incident occurred his mother went to the temple to celebrate Buddha day before returning home. She later wanted to go out again when a neighbour (the pickup driver) passed by. The deceased woman accepted a lift with Mr. Sriprapha’s.
When her son Mr. Jarernsaensuai later heard of her death, he said he felt the barrier should be extended in order to prevent another accident of this kind reoccurring and that there should be a regular patrol of officers in the vicinity.
