Pattaya, the 23rd of July 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 3:30am on Friday, Lieutenant Colonel Chatchai Srisuwan (Pattaya Police Investigator) was notified of an armed assault on a foreigner behind the Tony’s Pub in South Pattaya. A team of officers under the command of Lt. Col. Klitsakorn Thongin (Pattaya Police Investigator) were dispatched to the incident to investigate.

At the scene, officers confronted the injured man, Mr. Hadi Asai [21] from Iran, who had suffered a severe gash to the head and was crying out in pain. Mr. Asai was subsequently transported to the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital where he received 25 stitches for his injury, later being voluntarily released to provide a statement to police.
Mr. Asai explained that he had been walking behind the Tony Pub when he was confronted by Miss Elmira Nazminiya [20] from Iran. Immediately upon meeting Miss Nazminiya, two other men approached, attacking him with a knife before stealing approximately US$1,700 (Bt54,700) in cash and a Sony camera.
Although not confirming that they were friends, Mr. Asai stated that he had known Miss Nazminiya and one of his attackers, Mr. Amir Emany [21], having previously lent Miss Nazminiya over US$700 (Bt22,500) in the past.

Subsequent investigations in the area where the offenders are believed to be staying resulted in the arrest of both Mr. Emany and Miss Nazminiya. Under interrogation, both offenders confessed to colluding to attack Mr. Asai but stated that they had not robbed him. The third offender, now known to be Mr. Mesum (unknown last name), is alleged to have committed the theft before fleeing the area.
Officers have since charged the two offenders with assault and remanded them in custody. Police will now begin investigations to apprehend Mr. Mesum and bring him to justice.
