Rescue services needed the “Jaws of Life” to free the deceased body of a 19-year-old Thai man from his crashed car in the early hours of Saturday morning. The young man's car was witnessed speeding along the Sukhumvit Road moments prior to the fatal accident.

Pattaya, the 24th of July 2010 [PDN]: In the early hours of Saturday morning, local police were called to the scene of a fatal car accident along the Sukhumvit Road, approximately the 164km mark. Emergency rescue services were also dispatched to the scene, due to the severity of the accident.

At the scene, officers found the severely damaged remains of a silver Toyota Vios. The car was positioned adjacent to the Sukhumvit Road in the Pattaya bound lane and had obviously collided with a large tree further up the road before coming to rest.

The driver of the vehicle, now known to be Mr. Chaiyut Reungthaonglang [19], had suffered a severe skull fracture and possible internal injuries as a result of the accident. Due to the severity of damage done to his vehicle the deceased had to be cut from the wreckage by the “Jaws of Life” metal cutter/bender. Medical personnel revealed that Mr. Reungthaonglang almost certainly died on impact with the tree.

Investigations of the crash scene, uncovered a long black tread mark heading off the road surface before the car impacted with a tree. Due to the condition of the vehicle and damage to the surrounding area, police suspect that Mr. Reungthaonglang had been travelling in excess of the legal limit at the time of the accident.

Police interrogated Mr. Suthichai Sriprai [42], who had called police, finding that the deceased had attempted a dangerous passing manoeuvre on Mr. Sriprai’s truck before he had discovered the accident further up the highway. Mr. Sriprai explained that Mr. Reungthaonglang had almost certainly been travelling at high-speed at the time of the accident.

Officers, having taken a statement from Mr. Sriprai, are now appealing to any other motorists or witnesses to come forward with information pertaining to the case The deceased was taken to the Sattahip Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place.

Does Thai cars have belts (keam-kat)??

As the cars frame seems to be intact he may actually had survived this accident... IF he had used the car belt.

Roads in Thailand seems to serve as a modernized Darwin's selection theory.. "survival of the smartest"
