Bangkok, the 21st of July 2010 [PDN]: Customs officials working at Thailand’s main international airport detained and searched the four men following an anonymous tip-off regarding their attempted smuggling operation.
The four men, Reza Zaferani [27], Bagheri Esmaeil [30], Saeid Noeparastemami[28], and Jamshid Bayatbabolghany [28] all of Iranian nationality, were arrested having flown into the country on a flight from the Iranian capital of Tehran.

Following inconclusive body and luggage searches, customs officers requested x-rays to be taken of the four men, assuming that they had ingested the narcotics. Consequently, officers found 111 packages (1kg) concealed in the offenders stomachs. The narcotics have an estimated street value of some Bt3.5 million.
Remarkably, all of the offenders denied any wrongdoing until investigations found that Mr. Esmaeil had been flying to the Kingdom to visit his Thai girlfriend. She is allegedly a nightclub worker in the seaside resort city of Pattaya.
The four men have now been transferred into the custody of Thailand’s Narcotics Suppression Bureau for further investigations. At present, officers suspect that the four had been smuggling the restricted drug into the country with the intent on reselling the product on the streets of Pattaya.
