Sattahip, 21st July 2010 [PDN] At approximately 00:30am on Monday, Mr. Chanchai Iemjarern (Sattahip Marshall) along with officers from the Sattahip Naval Drug Battle Unit and the Sattahip Bailiff, arrested a known local drug dealer, Mr. Natthaphol Thapbai [30] from Bang Saray, Sattahip. The arrest was made as the suspect was in the process of using a drug in his residence just outside Pattaya.

Investigations proved that Mr. Thapbai admitted to purchasing Ya-ba from Mr. Sophon Yodgnam [32] in Bang Saray, Satahip, who opened his home for use as a Ya-ba shop. Subsequently the officer planned to catch the involved suspects under a sting operation, by purchasing 2 pills of Ya-ba for 500 baht.

The success of the sting operation, led to the officer apprehending 2 suspects: Mr. Chuphong Ngernphutduang [35] and Mr. Seksak Ngernphutduang [25] who confessed to being involved in drug dealing. Further investigation of the house, led to the discovery of a Thai Paradit .38 gun, 66 pills of Ya-ba, and massive haul of Ya-ba using equipments that was confiscated for evidence. The two suspects were charged with possession and participation of the class 1 drug (Ya-ba) for sale.
It was reported that when the officer was cuffing Mr. Sophon, his 2 years old son and 1 year old daughter cried while they clutched at their father. It is sad that the 2 children will now have to live with financially inadequate relatives without their parent.
