Chon-Buri, the 20th of July 2010: Janphen Group Vice President Mr. Wiboon Rakthorngsuk revealed that the PTT Group had announced the closure of eight NGV stations in the Chon-Buri province, scheduled for an overhaul in their gas providing services.
The stations scheduled for upgrade include; 1. Chon Buri 2. Banglamung 3. Baan Bung 4. Chachoengsao-Sattahip Road 83km mark 5. Sriracha 331 Road (Thiti Petroleum) 6. Borwin 7. Laem Chabang Estate 8. Sahaphat Estate. The stations are due to close on the 24th of July and upgrades are expected to take approximately 90-days.
The stations affected are those that are directly connected via the NGV pipeline from the Laem Chabang refinery. Smaller NGV suppliers who receive gas deliveries will not be closed during the upgrades. Services still operational in the province include; 4 in Mueng Chon Buri, 2 in Baan Bung, 4 in Banglamung, and 3 in other districts.
The aim of the upgrade is to both improve the quality and speed of service afforded to customers while bringing the industry inline with international standards. Increases in the gas quality are also expected to be an additional benefit, although the exact details have not been released by the PTT Group.
NGV Laem Chabang 2 Station manager Mr. Surakiet Paenthanorm revealed that the upgrades had already been largely installed at his site, slated to open on the 24th of July as the initial pilot/test site.
