Pattaya, the 20th of July 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 2:00am on Tuesday, Lieutenant Colonel Preecha Sumrit (Pattaya Police Investigator) was notified of a fatal motor accident along Third Road in Central Pattaya. Officers along with the Sawang Boriboon Foundation were immediately dispatched to investigate and render assistance.

At the scene, officers found the body of an unidentified woman who was unconscious and suffering from a fractured skull and bodily bruising. She was immediately rushed to the Pattaya Memorial Hospital where she remains in a critical condition. Nearby officers also found the deceased body of Mr. Sumit Phanurat [21] who had suffered a severely fractured skull and is thought to have died on impact with the pavement.

Adjacent to the two victims’, officers discovered the damaged remains of the Black Honda Wave motorcycle that the pair had been riding prior to the accident. The bike had collided with a pot-plant and walled garden before coming to rest on the footpath.

The driver of the white Honda Accord involved in the accident, Mr. Bunmee Wongsrikaeng [28], was standing next to the damaged vehicle waiting to provide police with a statement. Also present at the scene were two friends of Mr. Wongsrikaeng who had been travelling in the car and a gathering of witnesses and onlookers.

Under interrogation, Mr. Wongsrikaeng, who appeared intoxicated, revealed that he had been driving along Third Road when he was cut-off by a motorbike, not present at the scene, causing him to lose control of his vehicle and crash into the motorbike of the two victims.

Police have subsequently detained Mr. Wongsrikaeng for further interrogation as witness statements revealed that Mr. Wongsrikaeng had intentionally crashed into the victim’s motorbike after they had cut him off moments before the incident.

Should Mr. Wongsrikaeng be found guilty, he will be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, negligent driving and potentially two counts of vehicular manslaughter or murder.

I'm very sorry to see traffic deaths anytime but many are bringing it on themselves.Just a short drive in a car around Pattaya and you have to hit the brakes hard many times so you don't hit the motor bikes that try to cut you off.The bikers are often looking to make a problem, how else can a person explain their aggressive driving.Try walking around or god forbid riding a bicycle along these streets and it's not if you get hit by a motorbike but when.

If he is charged with intentionally hitting the people on the motorcycle, I hope he is not able to plead intoxication as a defense or mitigation. I usually have some sympathy even for drunk drivers who find themselves in serious trouble, but if he hit them intentionally he deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison.
