International, the 12th of July 2010: Despite not scoring any points in the recent British Grand Prix over the weekend, their duel world champion driver Alonso believes they will still win the championship.
The team website quoted the Spaniard as telling his team not to be downhearted after him and Brazilian Felipe Massa finished 14th and 15th respectively at Silverstone on Sunday. “OK guys, keep your heads up. We will win the championship,” Alonso said over the radio having just posted the fast time of the day in the last lap.
“We are only halfway through the season and there is plenty of time to recover. We have a great car and we proved that to everyone this weekend and confirmed it with this fastest race lap.
The Italian team’s performance on Sunday was the worst of the season and their first failure to score points since the last race of the 2009 season in Abu Dhabi. Considered Ferrari’s number two, Massa has yet to score points in his last three outings, while Alonso has gained merely 19 in that time.

Alonso currently sits in fifth position on the driver’s championship standings, 47 behind leader Lewis Hamilton with 9 races and a maximum 225 points left. Ferrari is currently third in the constructor’s standings, 113 points behind leaders McLaren.
Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali stated at a debriefing on Monday, “We just have to knuckle down and continue with the development of the car, working calmly, with great concentration and determination. Then, the results will come.”
