Pattaya 7th July 2010 [PDN] At 1.00 am Police Lieutenant Colonel Anan Thamachaikun (Pattaya Police Investigator) was notified that a female suspect jailed in the detention room on 2nd floor of the Pattaya Police Station was having contractions as she was about to give birth. The officer along with Sawang Boriboon Foundation rescues team went the scene to assist the woman.
On arrival, it was discovered that Mrs. Sumalee Duangsri [35] who was caught using drugs while waiting for a drug addiction treatment was crying with pain. She informed the officer that she was due to give birth as she was 9 months pregnant. The rescues team rushed her to the Banglamung Hospital where it was found that she was not ready to deliver as she was only around 8 months pregnant.

Mrs. Duangsri was examined by the doctor who diagnosed the pain to be caused by tension and not contractions. It was discovered that Mrs. Duangsri had never had any prenatal care which made it difficult to predict the exact stage of her pregnancy, but guessed that she was around eight months.
She was prescribed some medication before being taken back to prison.
