Online Protection Centre & Paedophiles Travelling Abroad

Share
Ones image of a paedophile usually involves a middle aged man walking the streets intent on finding and abducting a young victim, or glued to the internet in search of the unawares to groom or worse still going abroad where they think they can pick up children for a few measly bahts to satisfy their perverted lust.

The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (Ceop) that has been in operation since its launch in 2006, reports that during its annual review, the volume of indecent still and moving images captured on webcams is on the rise and remains challenging, but warns that some of the images may have been taken by the child themselves as a result of online grooming while others have been passed on via webcam streaming chat sites.

The images taken on line can be the results of online grooming, inciting a child to commit a sexual act whilst recording it which would later, be used for viewing and trading or as blackmail to ensure they keep a hold over the child. The webcam is used for streaming chat sites that enable offenders to interact through instant messaging or webcam, sharing previously captured footages or live time images of abuse of children in their care. Paedophiles are accessing more and more images of children from webcams.

Ceop has been cracking down on paedophiles abroad with reports that its overseas tracker team working to disrupt paedophiles travelling abroad to abuse children, has become “more proactive than ever before” where new ways of tracking offenders and a better tactical intelligence gathering has seen 58 arrests, deportations and warrants issued and Ceop picture of traveling offenders is moving at a great pace.

Between February 2009 and March 2010, the organization has safeguarded 278 children, double the number it help last year, while Ceop reported to have safeguarded a total of 624 children since its launch in the fight against child sexual abuse.

Experts believe that raising awareness in young children of the dangers of the web will help protect them. Children from the age of five and up are being targeted in the new online safety campaign which is being backed by the government. They use cartoon pictures to show the five to seven year olds that not all people are what they seem. It is believed that 80 per cent of children in this age group are using the web with six and seven year olds on social networking meant for teenagers and adults. One in five parents worries about who their children are talking to.

As part of the EU Internet Safety Day, the UK Council for Child Internet Safety has launched a campaign for child safety, where one of the organizations Ceop have been behind campaign designs to help children and teenagers keep themselves safe from predators.

Victims of paedophiles are getting younger as they unknowingly expose themselves to unnecessary risks while the paedophiles themselves become more cunning in their exploits. Around 500 cases are being reported through its “Report Abuse” button on some websites. Out of these, four will be from children who are at immediate risk of harm.

Some of the more intelligent police departments have been quite successful going on line and pretending to be children to entice these scumballs into setting up a meeting. If the guy shows up to meet what he has been told is a 14 year boy, there is no questioning that he is a guilty perverted basta*d.
