Pattaya, the 5th of July 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 00:30am on Monday, Lieutenant Colonel Attharot Krongrat (Pattaya Police Investigator) was notified of a shooting incident at the Classic Beer Bar opposite Soi 8 along Pattaya’s Second Road. A team of officers were dispatched to the scene to investigate.

Police investigating the scene observed a line of blood on the ground near the snooker table’s whist a variety of foreign and Thai witnesses had gathered around the area to observe the situation. Officers were informed that the victim, Miss Kesorn Rattanamaneekun [42] had already been taken to the Banglamung Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to the left leg.
The owner of the Classic Beer Bar, Mrs. Sagwan Sirimat [40], revealed that her and her staff had been sitting in front of the bar when two male youths rode past on a motorbike and a loud bang was heard. Instantly following the bang Miss Rattanamaneekun cried out in pain after realising that she had been shot. Mrs. Sirimat informed police that she immediately instructed her staff to take Miss Rattanamaneekun to the hospital before informing police.

Mrs. Sirimat further revealed that she was not entirely sure that the gunshot had come from the two youths however at the time of the gunshot they were the only ones in the direction from which the bullet came.
Officers speculate that the shot was fired by the two youths, who had been riding around looking to cause trouble or that it was an accidental shooting from a gun carried by the youths. Police will now look to take a statement from Miss Rattanamaneekun after she has had surgery to remove the bullet from her leg.
