YRAT prepare for IODA Asian Championships in Pattaya

The Yacht Racing Association of Thailand (YRAT) announced the commencement of the International Optimist Dinghy Association Asian Champions 2010 from the Royal Varuna Yacht Club in Pattaya on Sunday.

Pattaya, the 4th of July 2010 [PDN]: From the Royal Varuna Yacht Club in Phratamnak the YRAT president announced the commencement of this year’s IODA Asian Championships to the delight of the gathered competitors.

The IODA Asian Championships is youth competition for sailers under the age of 15. This year’s competition will feature 103 boats from 20 countries and is officially sponsored by the YRAT and the Royal Varuna Yacht Club.

Thailand has entered 15 competitors in this year’s event, which will feature the largest field in the championships history. Former Female Optimist Sailing Champion Miss Nopphakao Phoonphat will lead the Thai team.

The IODA Asian Championships is an officially certified tournament by the International Optimist Sailing Association (IOSA). This year’s competition will commence on the 5th of July and run until the 11th of July.
