A brazen shooting incident at a Pattaya pub on Friday night has resulted in the death of a 19-year-old man. At present police are unaware of the motive for the murder and the offender is yet to be positively identified.

Pattaya, the 3rd of July 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 3:30am on Friday, Colonel Attharot Krongrat (Pattaya Police Investigator) was notified of a shooting incident at the Fake Pub & Restaurant in North Pattaya. A team of police along with the Sawang Boriboon Foundation were dispatched to attend the incident.

At the scene medical officers attended to the victim, Mr. Theerat Trakaew [19], who was lying on the floor of the establishment’s toilet suffering from several gunshot wounds. Despite the concerted efforts of rescue workers Mr. Trakaew later died of his injuries at the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. Mr. Trakaew had been shot, at close range, twice in each thigh and once in the penis.

Investigations of the scene uncovered five spent 9mm shells whilst two bronze bullets were plied from the concrete wall in the toilet. Officers collected the evidence before forensic investigators dusted the location for fingerprints.

Officers interrogated several members of staff at the establishment who reportedly explained that the offender was known only as Mr. Jud Baan Ampher (nickname) and that he had been in the pub for a short while before fleeing the location in a hurry.

Mr. Aphichet Suriyo [21], the toilet attendant, stated that he had witnessed Mr. Trakaew enter the toilet followed shortly after by Mr. Jud. He stated that he had heard the offender shout, “how dare you flirt with my boss’s girlfriend, now you die” before five gunshots rang out and Mr. Jud fled. The doormen and parking attendant for the establishment reportedly observed Mr. Jud walk into the premises to talk to another man before following the victim into the toilet and fleeing the scene hurriedly moments later.

Officers have now begun an investigation to track down and arrest Mr. Jud Baan Ampher whilst they would also like to speak to the man he had been talking to prior to the incident. Mr. Trakaew’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination following which it will be released to his relatives for funeral proceedings.

I'd bet money on that we never hear from this case again. Even for Thailand, someone who has someone else shot that blatantly must be pretty confident that he'll get away with it unharmed.

I guess the mysterious person who the hitman talked to before shooting the little fella is a big swinging dick in Pattaya and the police will do fuck all to follow up on this case!

Great country it is!

Dear Readers: We insert the name of investigating officers into the news, as it is a direct translation from the Thai article where it is an unwritten requirement that we credit the leading officer and district police station with the case.

"...death of a 19-year-old man." I thought that the legal age for being in a club was 20. Oh well, wrong place, wrong time, wrong age.

stropmag could that be that by mentioning their name the PDN paying tribute to their hardwork! or currying favour with police officals in a strange Thai way?

Ottoman fucker asks "Why do we need to know the name of the police investigator in every crime news PDN?"
Ottoman, I know this is a rhetorical question from you and I don't expect PDN to reply nor alter their policy but you make a good point. There does seem to be an unhealthy collaboration in Pattaya between the authorities and the press. There are a few occasions when the name of the investigating officer is relevant but they are few and the fact that a particular 'senior' officer attended a scene is usually totally irrelevant to the story.

The cops here aren't exactly the sharpest tools in the tool shed. Nor are they too motivated to do anything that doesn't involved them making money off from it.
Best comment by breaker I could not agree more..

I often wonder who's the dumber of the two. The people who committ these crimes or the people incharge of solving them?

Yea...that's a real tough one..maybe he should have left a statement in the toilet what the motive was, so that even the Thai police can figure it out!
