Pattaya, the 24th of June 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 7:00pm on Thursday, Lieutenant Colonel Preecha Sumrit (Pattaya Police Investigator) was notified of a Jetski accident involving three foreigners across from the Royal Garden Plaza in Pattaya Bay. An investigative team was immediately despatched to the incident whilst the Pattaya Memorial Hospital’s emergency response team was also called to assist.

Two of the involved tourists, Mr. Uma Dhar Kesarwani [46] and his daughter Miss Sakshi Kesarwani [14] had already been transported to the hospital in a critical condition upon police arrival. Officers were later informed that Mr. Kesarwani had died of his injuries whilst enroute to the hospital. Emergency Response personnel later revealed that Mr. Kesarwani had suffered a broken neck and left leg in the accident. His daughter was in a critical but stable condition at Pattaya Memorial Hospital suffering from a dislocated hip and broken jaw.
Investigations revealed that Mr. Kesarwani along with his wife, son and two daughters had hired a Jetski (yellow & white) from a local operator at approximately 5:00pm. The family had been taking it in turns to ride around in the Pattaya Bay when Mr. Kesarwani and his daughter collided with another Jetski (black, red & white) travelling at high-speed. Witnesses state that the other rider was of Indian/Middle-Eastern nationality and had fled the scene, apparently uninjured, immediately after the collision.

Mr. Kesarwani was rendered unconscious following the accident whilst his daughter was crying out for assistance. The pair were promptly aided to the shore by nearby Jetski operators before being sent to the hospital for treatment. At present, police have confiscated the two involved jetski’s whilst a distraught Mrs. Kesarwani and the owner of the yellow & white Jetski, Mrs. Maew Khamharn [52], were escorted to the station to provide statements over the matter.
Officers will now attempt to locate the other man involved in the accident whilst attempts to contact the owner of the black, red & white Jetski have been unsuccessful. Fortunately officers have been presented with a photograph of the missing man, taken moments before he began riding the Jetski. Police urge anyone who knows or has knowledge of the whereabouts of this man to immediately report the information to the Pattaya Police Station.

Jetskis are not toys. They are fast and powerful. In the hands of inexperienced drivers, they are a lethal weapon.
Many will disagree with me, but if more stupid idiots kill themselves renting these jetskis, the message might sink in; Do not rent the machines.
Probable he did first some barhopping & drinking and then rented a jetski.
Arab + beer + motorbike or jetski = trouble
I can only imagine a compression collar was not applied around the neck before being transported to the hospital. the video shows his leg has been supported but not the neck. perhaps someone should look into this and see if pattaya's resque teems are properly trained.
Tourists driving bikes triple the size they can handle.
Operating jet-ski's close to shore and at night(!) are just two of the things one could mention.
I understand Pattaya needs some things to attract tourists but they should not bring danger to these tourists at the same time.
The number of tourists has been growing since the 90's, a time at which it was already to crowded at the beach to operate jet-ski's.
Also, having pawn shops is a recipe for disaster as it allows people to bring in their stolen goods eventhough this should not be possible at all..
