Following the externally organised raid on Pattaya Remand Prison on Wednesday, another new proactive security initiative was initiated on involving various forms of local police and correctional officers. The initiative was tentatively titled as a “Proactive Security Training Program.”

The new procedure saw police and correctional officer’s stage a rehearsed “Prisoner Abduction and Apprehension” manoeuvre.

The training drill was carried out by Banglamung Police, Volunteer Police, Security Police and Department of Corrections Officers and involved a variety of training techniques. The operation saw the staging of a prisoner abduction whilst being transported to the Pattaya Court for trial. In the correctional facility van was a foreign transnational criminal who was then broken out in a mock ambush by 6 Thai accomplices of the foreign inmate.

Police then proceeded to demonstrate “chase & apprehension” tactics on the fugitive criminals which resulted in a mock gunfight being staged with the offenders attempting to through the bushland. One offender was inadvertently killed in the gunfight (faked) whilst the rest of the abductors and the transnational criminal were successfully apprehended. Lastly, officers practiced follow-up procedures which included cataloguing all evidences and creating witness and situation reports.

Police Lt. Col. Piammanat advised the visiting media that the training operation had been an overwhelming success with all participating departments voicing their approval of the benefits of practicing such proactive security procedures in the future.

This type of training is of great use to the Pattaya police, it takes skilled officers to carry out such an operation.
This type of training was also carried out by me and my mates at the local park when I was 10 years old.
