Pattaya, the 18th of May 2010 [PDN]: In the main conference room at Pattaya City Hall, Admiral Phutthi Mangkhalapruek (Permanent Secretary of the Defence Ministry) along with Pattaya City Mayor Ittiphol Khunpluem chaired a meeting to discuss a proposed International Fireworks festival to be organised in conjunction with Her Majesty the Queens 78th birthday celebrations.

Lieutenant general Mom Luang Prasobchai Kasemsan (Display and Contest Committee Chairman), stated that the festival, organised in Pattaya between the local administration and the Defence Ministry, would be held to mark the Queens 78th birthday on the 14th of August 2010. Preliminary plans have shown the festival will be organised along Pattaya beach road in the region of Soi 4 and will commence at approximately 2:00pm and finish at midnight.
It was revealed that fireworks professionals from countries including; Thailand, China, Japan, Denmark, German, America, the United Arab Emirates, Australia and Italy would showcase their individual displays to the gathered festival goers along beach road under the banner of ‘The Queens Honorary International Fireworks Celebration.’

The main focus of Tuesday’s meeting however was to discuss the suitability, preparedness and security concerns surrounding such a large and potential popular event. Issues discussed ranged from traffic congestion and parking issues to tourist safety and danger issues resulting from the planned fireworks display.
Further announcements regarding the festival are expected to be revealed closer to the event.
