Pattaya Ladies Hold Record Breaking Charity Quiz Night

A large number of small teams congregated at “Wing-D” of the Pattaya Bangkok Hospital to compete in a “Trivia” Quiz Competition, enjoy fine food & drink, and in the process raise a large amount of money for charity.

Pattaya, the 10th of April 2010 [PDN]: Our Pattaya International Ladies Club (PILC) very professionally organized this annual fund raising event, which has been running for a few years, but this latest “Quiz Night” has been the most successful ever.

Many teams of between 4 – 10 competitors were asked some very difficult, mind bending questions by Pattaya’s local radio celebrity Mr. Barry Upton. However, there were not just verbal questions, but also song and face recognition sections of famous people both recent and past; (who remembers the face of Florence Nightingale from a few centuries ago?).

There was also a “tip jar,” which had 15,000 baht inside before the night had finished, and the “High Hopes” team generously donated 6,000 baht of this money. Even though they may have finished lowest in the final scoring, they were not in disgrace, because they donated 3,000 baht for the purchase of one of Barry Upton’s new CD song albums, titled “Peace, Luv and Hot Pantz.”

The final announcement of winners was no less exciting, with the leading two teams coming in with 37-points, so this meant that there was a final “tie breaking” question between the “Jesters” team, and the “Groapa” team. How much does the world’s heaviest cat weigh? -Former PILC President Gillian Thom with an answer of around 50Kg, was very close the Jesters team member Mr. X, prefers to remain anonymous with his slightly exaggerated guess of 100Kg.

A pleasant fun filled night was had by everybody, especially with the ample variety of food and drinks, which were included in the competition entry fees, and a record amount of money was raised for local charities.
