Pattaya police successfully busted a large Hi-Lo gambling ring in South Pattaya on Tuesday. The group had allegedly been gathering in front of rental rooms, disturbing local residents with their illegal activities at all hours of the day and night.

Pattaya, the 27^th of April 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 5:00am on Tuesday, police Lieutenant Colonel Jamrat Thongjinda (Pattaya Police Investigator) along with a team of officers and police volunteers preceded to a block of rental rooms in South Pattaya to conduct a raid. Officers had been notified by local residents of the area that an illegal Hi-Lo gambling ring was operating at the building, disturbing residents, particularly through the middle of the night.

The officers arrived at the scene, blocking the entrance to the building, at which point the large group of participants in the illegal gambling activity attempted to escape. Police successfully apprehended 3 of the offenders including the orchestrator Mr. Sirichai Bunsaen [38]. The other two apprehended culprits were Mr. Mitri Kaewbang [19] and Mr. Yutthana Chuprasert [34].

Police restrained the three men before escorting them to the police station for further interrogation in regards to their illegal activities. All three offenders admitted their guilt in the offence, however; Mr. Bunsaen threaten police that he was a Major in the Royal Thai Army and would have them removed from their post if he was arrested. Asked to produce his Army identification card Mr. Bunsaen stated that he had forgotten to bring it and that it was at his house.

All evidence from the scene has been confiscated by police with further interrogation of the suspects to be conducted in an attempt to apprehend the other offenders and put a stop to the illegal gambling operation.
