Pattaya 5th April 2010 [PDN]: At the Central Festival, Pattaya beach, Mr. Weerawat Kahkai, deputy mayor of Pattaya and Mr. Niti Kongkrut, from Pattaya tourism revealed the event ‘Pattaya International Fashion Week’ will include ambassador’s wives from 14 different countries, joining as honorary guest models presenting Thai silk customs on the catwalk.
The highlight of the event will be on the 9th April at the Sunken area of the ground floor at Central Festival Pattaya Beach shopping mall where events are usually held.

The ambassador’s wives from, Bulgaria, Mexico, Spain, Luxemburg, Kenya, Philippines, South Africa, Slovak, Portugal, Ukraine, Hungary, Korea, Netherlands and Poland will be the guests model presenting custom made Thai silk.
The catwalk will start from the front of Central Festival beach along the beach road down to the entrance of the Walking Street, with the total length being 1.5 km. The event is expected to ratify the record on Guinness World Records™ as the longest catwalk in the world, beating that of Mexico in August 2009 whose 81 models walked a distance of 1,320.45 meters surpassing the previous record of 1,111 meters which had stood since 1998.

Longest catwalk in 2009
On 1 August 2009, at the Centro de las Artes Centenario in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, a fashion show was performed on the longest catwalk ever walked. Each one of the 81 models walked a distance of 1,320.45 m (4,332 ft 2 in), surpassing the previous record of 1,111 m (3,645 ft), which had stood since 1998.

The event was organized by the state government of San Luis Potosi through its tourism secretary. The models presented an exclusive collection created for the occasion by the internationally renowned Mexican designers Cristina Pineda and Ricardo Covalin (of Pineda Covalin); the duo received their GWR certificate upon the completion of the show along with Marcelo de los Santos, the governor of San Luis Potosi, who presided over the event.

Among the guests in the show were the ambassador of France in Mexico, Daniel Parfait, and the famous Mexican wrestler El Hijo del Santo.
All funds raised were to benefit AMANC, the Mexican Association for Helping Children with Cancer. Carlos Martínez of Guinness World Records™ attended the event and ratified the record on site.
