Burmese Man Arrested for Stealing Gold Necklace from a Gay French

Burmese illegal immigrant has been arrested for theft of a gold necklace after being invited to stay at a rented room with French National

Pattaya, 6th April 2010: At 12.30am police Captain Jamrat Thongjinda, Pattaya Police Investigator received notification from Mr. Alain Cohen [42] a gay, French national that he discovered the Burmese thief at the Pattaya Beach, opposite Soi12, South Pattaya.

Mr. Cohen reported that he recognized the man as the same person who had stolen his gold necklace two days ago after inviting him to stay at his rented room nearby. The Officers subsequently went to investigate the incident.

On arrival at the scene, the Officers question Mr. Yae Tui [17] who was a beggar, a member of a gang and an illegal alien. Mr. Tui did not speak Thai proficiently and after searching him, the police found nothing untoward.
Mr. Cohen, the victim revealed that he met the suspect two nights ago at a gathering in Soi Suni, South Pattaya. Feeling pity for the poor state of the Burmese beggar, he invited him to stay at his rented room nearby. When Mr. Cohen finally woke up he found that Mr. Tui had left, taking with him a 1 baht gold necklace. After informing the police, he continuously walked around the beach area in search of Mr. Tui finally meeting him again, making a citizens arrest and calling the police.

Mr. Tui denied the accusation pleading to the victim for mercy and forgiveness. However, the officers did believe his statement arresting him for theft and illegal entry into the Thai Kingdom.

Mr. Tui has been taken into custody for further judicial proceedings.
