Qatari National Sexually Assaults Innocent Pattaya Masseuse

Following the sexual assault of a Thai masseuse, a Qatari national has willingly payed the victim an amount in compensation to avoid any litigation as a result of the incident. The assault occurred at a massage parlour in Walking Street, South Pattaya.

Pattaya, the 29th of March 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 00:00am Monday, police Major Kriengkrai Buakla (Pattaya Police Investigator) was notified of a sexual assault at the Antina Thai Massage Shop in Pattaya’s infamous Walking Street. Following the report a team of police were dispatched to the business to investigate the matter further.

Police, arriving at the scene, were confronted by Miss Suwimon (last name withheld) [24] who explained that she had been performing a massage on a Qatari national, Mr. Mr. Abdul Rahman Jassim M Y Sorour [39] when he became sexually aroused and proceeded to indecently assault her. Mr. Sorour was subsequently detained at the scene by the staff from the massage parlour. Officers arrested Mr. Sorour before taking him to the Pattaya Police Station along with Miss Suwimon for further questioning.

At the station Miss Suwimon further revealed that Mr. Sorour had indecently touched her breast and pulled her to the bed after he had become sexually aroused by her massage. Resisting Mr. Sorour’s attempts Miss Suwimon revealed she was able to free herself from his grasp, running for help from the other staff members present in the shop.

Mr. Sorour proceeded to apologise profusely to Miss Suwimon, explaining that he was aware his actions were inappropriate whilst continuing to profess his regret for the incident, offering to pay the victim an amount of money in compensation. Miss Suwimon agreed, requesting he pay her 30,000 baht in order to avoid any litigation in the serious matter, which he payed accordingly.

Police Major Buakla filed a report on the incident before warning Mr. Sorour about his actions and the need to acknowledge and respect the Thai law in the future. Mr. Sorour was then released without any charges being laid.

Hmmmm, Indecent assault, attempted rape, seems to be multible standards in the Thai criminal system. This guy should have been charged accordingly and since he wasn't she should now be liable for some criminal act herself. I am not on his side at all, but to buy your way out of a criminal act of this kind should not be allowed. If someone takes advantage of his gross error in judgement then they to should be liable.

I don't understand why anyone would want a massage here that did not have a happy ending. With the heat here, the last thing I want is someone rubbing oil on the wrong places. I don't doubt for one minute that the Qatar national became aroused during massage and touched her breast, but I do disagree with the amount of 'compensation' paid. The woman could easily remove herself from the situation and was in no danger, so I think that the 'compensation' should have been capped at 2,000 baht.
