Pattaya, the 19th of March 2010 [PDN]: On Friday, Mr. Phongsakorn Phongsakornphongsa [48] (Managing Director of Eastern Steel Industry Ltd and Samed Police Commissioner) informed a gathered press conference of his experiences at the hands of a leading security equipment provider and his resultant loss of a substantial amount of stock because of there inadequacy and mistreatment. Mr. Phongsakornphongsa stated that as a result of his experience with Fujiko and their mismanagement he will now proceed with a complaint to the Office of Consumer Protection Board so that his case may serve as an example to others exploring the viability of installing Fujiko security equipment.
Mr. Phongsakornphongsa revealed that in 2008, he had purchased 40 CCTV surveillance cameras and a DVR recorder from the same leading, internationally recognized company. After 2 months of operation, over 10 of the cameras had ceased working. In accordance with the guarantee the cameras were sent to the SGD Inter Trading Ltd (Repair Agent for the equipments manufacturer) shop in IT City, Sriracha. Over a month passed before the cameras were fixed, at which time a robbery took place at the Eastern Steel Industries premises. Filing a compensation claim due to the robbery occurring in the area at which the faulty cameras were missing due to repairs, the manufacturer informed Mr. Phongsakornphongsa that he was not eligible for any compensation as company policy only provides reimbursement of lost monies if the footage is captured on camera.
Once the camera’s had been returned and were operational the DVR unit purchased, from the same manufacturer broke down. Sending it for repair, which took between 1-2 months,
another robbery was committed at the steel business. Due to the footage not being recorded, as Fujiko had failed to provide a replacement the offenders escaped once again.
The last incident occurred on the 25th of February 2010, while once again the DVR unit was in for repair. The companies’ failure to offer any assistance, compensation or a complete aftermarket service package resulted in Mr. Phongsakornphongsa contacting the media on Friday to warn others of his negative experience. In total as a result of three robberies, over 200,000 baht in stock and equipment was stolen.
The only response that has been given by the manufacturer at present was a representative from the office in Sriracha informing Mr. Phongsakornphongsa that he would have to contact the Bangkok office to precede with any guarantee claims.
