Pattaya, 18 March 2010, [PDN]: At 2.00am, Police Lieutenant Colonel Jakkarin Toursuphap (Pattaya Police Investigator) was notified of an accident between a car and motorbike, which resulted in the death of the foreign motorcyclist. The incident occurred in front of Mike Orchid Villa in Soi Khao Noi, Moo10, Pattaya. The police officer, along with rescue personnel of the Sawangboriboon Foundation, duly rushed to the incident scene to investigate.

At the scene, the team discovered the dead body of Mr. Lee Spencer [41] a British national, who had been wearing a black round-neck T-shirt and white jeans. He had sustained a broken neck, and broken right leg. Nearby was his black Honda Wave motorbike, a complete write-off. Next to it was a grey-bronze Toyato Fortuner with frontal damage, whose driver, Miss Somjai Jaithad [45], was apprehensively standing by, waiting to provide a statement to the police.

Miss Jaithad explained that whilst she was driving home in Soi Khao Noi, she had swung out into the right-hand lane in order to overtake another car beside her. Unfortunately, there was a motorbike speeding towards her that she only noticed at the last moment, too late to avoid a crash. Sadly, Mr. Spencer had no chance to avoid the collision and was killed outright.
Mr. Spencer’s body was taken for autopsy and the British Embassy will be notified of his death accordingly.

Even in a drunken haze he must have known that most likely his time was up. I wonder what thoughts went through his head.
Going by some of the comments on here he had gone out of his way to cause others acute unhappiness, harm and distress - perhaps just solely for his own sadistic satisfaction. A nice guy?...well some might say som nam na.
I doubt whether a few seconds of horror would have given him enough time to mentally repent of his sins.
Why don't you let go now. You've had your say and obviously not many people agree with you judging by the overwhelming tributes to Lee that are still ongoing in many places. He was clearly loved and respected by a vast number of people who can't all be wrong. You obviously didn't really know him.
I hope you have an appropriate response or lack of it when you meet your end. Only scum buckets would continue to repeat the same comments still as you are doing. Have some respect. Maybe when you go you may get some yourself but judging by the way you are going that would seem unlikely....
Lee is now with my family, he deserved to be with us because he was such a drunk, sober goody goody boys go to heaven.
Problem is, heaven is shit, just as living a pious life on earth is absolutely boring and shit.
All you idiots slagging Lee off, I feel sorry for you, leave your contact details here and I will personaly kick the living shit out of any of you.
Of course, you will never identify yourselves, but know this, there are ways to track you.
See you wankers sometime in the future.
Very brave behind the PC, you lowlife scum.
Please discard your anonymity, reveal yourself, don't be shy.
I'll order 300 Pizzas just to have you deliver them to me.
Asshole !!!
The rest of what you say is your version. Spare a thought for his family. Methinks you are the one "going straight to hell" as you put it - your words.
Lee helped many people (I know that for a fact) and it would seem your main gripe is him slagging off your pizza business (again we only have your words to go on). And as for "Pissing on his grave" obviously nothing is sacrosanct even in death and that alone just shows how bitter and twisted you are.
You are not worth any more wasted words.

Speed reduces reaction time and his drunkenness also reduces reaction ability.
I am soooo glad Lee's gone instead of someone less deserving.
He was an instigator and didn't mind ruffling feathers.
I will piss on his UK grave next time I'm there. Will post on You Tube.
1 less drunk off the road.
Driving a car or riding a motorcycle in Thailand cannot be compared to doing the same in England, to say he was on the right side of the road so it must have been the car drivers fault is a little silly when Pattaya driving is so much different to England driving.
What you have been reading is not shit, these are responses to an accident that happened to yet another drunken Farang taking his chance .
So please desist from the crap you spout about how wonderful he was, and thank your lucky stars you were not his pillion passenger that night, the guy should not have been on the bike in his drunken, alcoholic stupor condition, PERIOD !!!!!!!!
Would you have thought he was so wonderful if this drunken pisshead had killed some innocent children and survived ?
Lily, get realistic, not emotional, you stupid cow.
Amen.
The truth of the matter is Lee was an extremely kind and generous host even in his own home (when it was nothing to do with business or money!). He just wanted people to have a good time. A kinder person you could not hope to meet despite his own problems.
He may have drunk a little too much himself on occasions (we all have our own demons from our past and most of you know nothing of Lee's so leave him alone when he's not here to respond!). I NEVER EVER felt pressurised to drink more than I wanted when with Lee and I am certainly no piss-head. It is surely up to each individual to know when to stop so I really feel you cannot put the blame at Lee's door for other people consuming more than they should, whilst obviouisly being sorry if someone has been hurt or worse by doing so.
The fact still remains Lee was on the correct side of the road and was mowed over by someone overtaking. Whose fault does that make it? You don't have to be a geniuis to work that one out!
For God/Buddha's sake, let the poor guy RIP now and let his family rest too. Enough already!!!!
Lee was drunk that night, as he was most nights, FACT !!!!
All you assholes supporting him are probbaly also drunken losers who I suspect may meet a similar fate, don't try to drag innocent Fortuner drivers down with you !!
Lee was drunk, 100% fact, I know, I was there !!
I wonder how many of you pricks would support him if he had slammed into your car, drunk out of his mind ?
Lee was an accident waiting to happen, for those of you who do not believe this to be true, then you have never ever met the late Lee late at night, the guy was a total pisshead, and should never have been riding a bike.
Luckily he never killed anyone else.
And yes Mr Big mouth, I will come to Nois Bar or any other bar and tell you the same thing, am I supposed top be worried about the alcoholic mafia from the darkside ? 555555555555555
You're a joke, I wont say any more, but feel free to leave a message here, I'll met you anytime, anywhere, any place, thats if you can stagger along to the MP without stopping for another 12 bottles of whatever it is you feel the need to drink, pathetic.
you really are a sad excuse for a human being, but i guess you and your amoebic type already know that.
and i bet you are off to google that to see if its an insult.. its not.. in your case.. its a compliment
It's too bad there was a victim, nobody can tell if he could have avoided it if sober.
All that, if it wasn't a drunk farang driving, as mentioned.
It's amazing how so many get away with it for so long, a Farang I know who has a pick up knocked a girl off her bike, sped away, was chased by a motorcycle taxi driver, stopped, gave the motocycle taxi driver a wad of money to forget his numberplate ID, then went home, the fate of the Thai girl is unknown to him, he was nearly incapable of walking that night, let alone driving, yet like so many Farangs in Pattaya, he still drove.
It's common in Pattaya and I am surprised that so many more are not killed or disabled.
I never knew Lee, but I have been to the bar, and that guy really drank a lot.
Many here are blaming the car driver, would you as a car driver accept responsibility if a totally drunk guy crashed into you and was killed ?
Didn't think so...........
Yet when drunk, many people are distracted and end up having accidents, I know if it was me riding sober, no way would I plough into a Fortuner, and I would certainly have seen it coming, it wasn't on a blind corner, yes its a tragic accident, but accidents always are tragic.
Lee was drunk, FACT !!!! It may not have been his fault, but being drunk riding a bike in a small soi in Pattaya certainly does not make you less likely to have an accident.
Lee was an OK type of guy I suppose, but a pisshead who rode his bike whilst drunk, just as many of the people who frequent bars on the darkside do, some get away with it, some don't.
***********
If one drives carefully, they can avoid nearly anything. Lee was likely pissed as a fart. People only liked him because he got them drunk and they were drunk when judging him. Find me 1 non alcoholic who liked Lee. None!
They do this because they are also guilty of being in charge of bikes and cars whilst drunk.
They make themselves feel better by blaming a Thai person, can't be a Farangs fault can it ?
The fact that the guy was a total pisshead goes over their heads, too much alcohol wil eventually make one paranoid, you can see it in the posts here.
All Thais are out to get them...lol...wankers.
Totally agree with you, and sorry for your loss, and you are correct, Lee was certainly not sober.
Pattaya unfortunately has a lot of idiots, some have access to a computer, the anti Thai rants on this website are unbelievable.
Thais are always wrong, and Farangs are always right according to these enlightened souls who have probably spent a 3 weeek holiday here 5 years ago and have now become leading authorities on all things Thai.
You think that Lee was sober ?
You think Lee could never be at fault as he never rode his bike whilst drunk ?
It's you who appears to know nothing, yet the blame is laid at the door of the Thai woman, it could never have been Lee's fault could it, I mean he was always sober, get real man !!
You would be singing a different tune had you been an unfortunate car driver involved with a pissed up Farang, whoever is at fault it's an accident, but to say that in no way could it had been Lee's fault is absurd, he was pissed up at the time.
I know, I was in his bar that night.
Unlucky Lee, but, after Mark copped it you should have known it was only time,
goodbye lee r.i.p.
fucking done.
Do Thai's have a heart ?
As for the people who say take a songtaew, do you always take the bus when in your own country?
It might be more dangerous here, but when you live here you are quite entitled to want to drive a car or bike.
If it wasnt for Farangs she would have been driving an OX cart. Foreign investment built the Thailand you shout for. So just say thank you and get on with your lives.
Don't be suprised when you see nothing happen to her. I have read of several different versions on this incident, and it appears that there is some faking going on here. I hope the PPD get to the bottom of it. There is no suggestion that the Motorcyclist was or was not wearing a helment. Even if he was I don't think it would have saved his life. they are not designed to prevent broken necks. I am suprised that they have not stated that the farang was in an intoxicated state. They usually are and they usually do.
Even though they can't prove it in this instance until blood work is done. I think the wheels of justice should at least make her pay for the funeral expences and flight home to the UK in his new pine box. She should be fined heavily and suspended from driving for a couple of years at least and be given a criminal record so that she cannot travel to Germany and visit her inlaws. The whole episode is a laugh in reverse and we all know that nothing will happen to her. By the By, The vehicle type in translation may very well read to be URV, but I would say it was an SUV. The fact that she admitted to overtaking a vehicle when unsafe to do so is the kicker and the problem should be solved. But it won't. (PDN)I would love to see the follow up on this as far as the police are conserned. What does she do for income, can she afford to pay a hefty fine? Sell the damaged SUV and then pay. Oh, I forgot she will have to pay the bank back first or at least her husband will have to. I would really like to find out if she was in fact driving the vehicle, and did he pull a Thai move and run and get her to return and say she was driving. It is a possibility.
I have seen her some where before. Does she run a bar somewhere in Pattaya? hmmmm not sure.........
Remember what goes around comes around.
RIP Brit.....
Maximum sentence is five years.
Who wants to bet NOTHING happens to her.
Killing a foreigner when you are one of the elite in Thailand is no different than running over a chicken on the road.
Here's what makes no sense. Bikes are to keep to the left. The overtaking dent is on the RIGHT of the vehicle. How's that supposed to work?
I get the feeling with where that dent is that she was blabbing on the cell (check the records at the time of the accident. This is easy enough to do, or perhaps she was messing around with the radio or a cigarette and went way over in the lane.
This doesn't look like an overtake accident to me. Not with a dent in the left side for a headon with a bike traveling to the left in his lane.
She should be arrested or negligent vehicular homicide in any case if the evidence shows justification.
Answers on a postcard, please.
bad bad news reporting, you guys should be ashamed of yourselves.
round,the Brit causing a Thai
citizen's death,they would be
in jail a long time ago!We all know,Thailand has laws for Thais
and laws for tourist its all about
the $$$$.But its not the way it works in the U.K. or other Western
countries,thats why Thailand will
always be a Third World country!
He put alcohol under your nose and if you had the willpower to resist, you were ok with him.
Mark Hogan could not resist and cracked his skull 2 years ago.
Karma for Lee. RIP Mark.
she just admit to here resposability
of the accident.
the other driver(dead) now was driving on the right side of the road
if she was a little more passiant nothing would have happen.
I missed the part where she was arrested and charge with reckless driving and vehicular homicde. Or is it that only farang in Pattaya are charged with those offenses?
With so many bad, terrible, incompetant drivers on the road what do you expect?
Dont drive motorbikes..
Hit head on by someone in the wrong lane won't be helped by many helmets.
Wrong reporting to cover up already?
And it's a disgrace that you show photos.
