Brit Pattaya Bar Cashier Arrested For Working Illegally
Pattaya, March 17, 2010, [PDN]: at 1am this morning, a team from Chonburi Immigration Office (which has recently amalgamated the respective Immigration departments of Pattaya and Chonburi), led by Superintendent of Immigration, Police Colonel Athisavis Kamolruth, surrounded the Roxy Bar, located at 588 Moo 10 Walking Street, as it had come to their notice that there was at least one foreigner working there illegally, without a work permit.
Entering the bar, the Immigration team found Mr. Jason Hill, a British national, 41, walking about in the vicinity of the front counter. Checking with staff, who were working in the bar, it was discovered that Mr. Jason was working illegally as a cashier. The team duly identified themselves as officers of the Immigration Police and asked for Mr. Jason’s passport and work permit. When he was unable to produce a work permit, the Immigration Police took him to the Chonburi Provincial Immigration Office at Jomtien for further questioning.
When they reached the Immigration Office, Mr. Jason appeared unwilling to answer any of the investigator’s questions, refusing to speak. He was duly cautioned that as an alien, temporarily in the kingdom, he was not allowed to work and would be prosecuted for having contravened the law.

Then, according to most of the stupid posters here, it's all Thailands fault, not the Farang who is the one breaking the well known law !!
He knew what he was doing, so now he pays the price, there are scores of Farangs working illegally in Pattaya, perfectly aware that they are breaking the law, yet they still do it, then cry about it when it all goes wrong.
Deportation for all scumbags that come to Thailand to break the law and exploit the financial situation of the poor women that are exploited by these scumbags, all gogo bars and short time bars should be placed under surveillance, and more Farang scumbags that live off the suffering of poor people will be exposed and dealt with.
Crucify him alongside the airport runway as a reminder for all who enter Thailand, stay legal, be respectful, have a good time then piss off back to the dump you came from.
Some (not all) of the comments are pathetic and think you know the lot about Pattaya and the law. Once you've woke up an smelled the stench of a Thai cell it all becomes clear about what position we take in Thai society.
Those who learn to adapt to the reality will stay here and prosper, others will be sent packing to blighty with no money and a soiled pair of kegs. Get with the program and stop whining.

The Immigration Office of Thailand should lower it age limit for foreigners retiring in Thailand, from 50 years old to 45 years old.
25'000 THB isn't a big enough bribe to get off with this one.
