1The only people exploiting Thais are other Thais.

Foreign business's and investors are not some gang of criminals they are profit driven companies.

I am all for Thai's earning exactly the same as western workers but only if they have identical skill levels.
Then perhaps Thailand will learn that it needs to educate and train it's workforce to a point where they can attract business on skill levels, not merely on the ability to supply cheap rapidly turned over labour.
Of course this wont happen though as it is not in the interests of the elite to have educated masses.

0I fully support the poors struggle against the rich and corrupt but why do Thai's always have to blame the foreigners when this problem is 100% created by Thai's.
If Thai people would change their attitude towards corruption and idolisation then that would be a start.
Please though stop blaming foreigners, its just too convenient.

0Oh cycnicism, Proppa Ganda! Granted many responded to the hand-outs, but the realisation that maybe they will be able to flex their muscles in the future cannot have gone unnoticed. & it certanly gave the govt something to worry about as they took refuge behind the gates of the 11th Infantry Regiment compound. You've got to give the masses some hope, here. they've been oppressed for so/too long

0Not really, but nice try.

The poor were not "flexing their muscles of protest", but merely flexing their 2000 Baht payment (almost a year's wages for some) to wear a red shirt to a rally with overinflated attendance and with free shipping and handling by loading them into trucks like cattle, instead of into air conditioned buses that are too low class transportation for their puppetmasters to take.

The Bangkok Power Elite, as you call them, can't buy democracy - it has to be earned, not bought, by a MAJORITY of the 66 million people that are Thailand, not the few hundred rich people that may have money tied up by the current regime.

Taking advantage of the hunger of peasants by paying them 2000 Baht and then having the gall to say they are acting in their own interests?

If there were indeed 40,000 attendees, which elephant awakened to pay out the 80M Baht, plus payouts to the cattle truck drivers, and do you think all that elephant wanted was a ballot mandate in exchange?

How naive and propagandist.

It is the rich special interests, the "Bangkok power elite" from which you do a headfake, that are now exploiting the "Thai underclass" in Thailand for the Thai elite's financial gain.

The poor Esarn peasant puppet's strings were merely handed to another master for one weekend. Same exploitation, different excuse and agenda.
