Russian Tourist Allegedly Raped by Pattaya Motorbike Taxi

A female Russian tourist reported to the Pattaya Police Station on Sunday morning alleging that she had been assaulted and raped by a Pattaya motorbike taxi. The woman procured the service of the taxi in order to return to her Pratamnak Hill condo after a night out in Walking Street.

Pattaya, the 14th of March 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 4:30am on Sunday, police Lieutenant Colonel Phatsa Detphakkul (Pattaya Police Investigator) was informed by Tourist policeman Mr. Nanthaphak Pattharachaihiran [40] that a Russian tourist had been raped in a secluded area around Pratamnak Hill, South Pattaya.

Miss Senia Mulakatanya (alias) [25] a Russian tourist reported to the police station with Mr. Pattharachaihiran stating that she had been physically assaulted and raped by a motorbike taxi rider in South Pattaya. The woman had allegedly hired the motorbike taxi to take her back to her room at the Grand Condo View, Pratamnak Hill. Miss Mulakatanya had been out with some friends in Walking Street when she left them to return to her condo. She had engaged the taxi from in front of the Mac Shop near the Bali Hai Pier.

Miss Mulakatanya stated, once she had got on the motorbike the man pulled into some bushland where he proceeded to assault and rape her whilst she struggled violently, managing to punch him in the face at one point. Once the offence was over and the motorbike taxi driver fled, Miss Mulakatanya walked along the Pratamnak Road until she confronted the tourist policeman, Mr. Pattharachaihiran who took her to the police station.

Police revealed they will investigate the incident thoroughly in order to bring the violent offender to justice. A composite sketch will be drawn up and the motorbike taxi station where the offender works has been shutdown pending the completion of police investigations.

Miss Mulakatanya has been taken to the Banglamung Hospital where she will undergo several test to confirm the rape and check for the presence of HIV.

Why these numbskulls test for HIV directly after the rape is beyond me. You would think that a country with such an HIV/AIDS problem would know that it usually will not show up for 3 - 6 months.

Testing the same day is a waste of time and money, unless they test the male who raped her. Even then it is possible he is not testing positive yet due to a new infection.
